One People, One Voice

Last week, we wrapped up our winter choir season with an event called the Big Sing. It was a collaboration with the Together Project, that connects Canadians with newcomer refugees to build stronger, more integrated communities. The event was fabulous, and a reminder of the power of song in bringing people together. We were joined by 35 newcomers from the reception centres, some of whom had arrived in Canada just two days before. Together we shared a joyous, cross-cultural celebration of singing, drumming, and a wonderfully spontaneous dance party. Thank you to our friends at the Together Project and COSTI Immigrant Services for making this day possible, and to our Sing for Joy community for bringing your voices forward on behalf of peace, justice, and a warm welcome to our new Canadian friends.
