Join us for a lively afternoon of easy-to-learn songs that nourish the soul and uplift the spirit. The Big Sing is our final event of the fall choir season, and a celebration of the songs that we’ve learned together each week. We can’t wait to share these songs with our broader community of family, friends, neighbours, and Toronto citizens! All voices are welcome, and no singing experience is required.

The Big Sing is brought to you by Sing for Joy, an all-inclusive singing community that gathers each week for the pure joy of singing together. It is a member of the Ubuntu Choir Network, a global community of singing groups who believe that the joy of singing is a universal birthright, and that together, regardless of musical background, we can help improve the world by joining voices in song. To learn more about Sing for Joy, visit: www.singforjoy.ca.

Coco Love Alcorn

We are delighted to have the super-talented Coco Love Alcorn as our special guest. Coco is the creator of the beautiful song “The River” which is on her newest album Wonderland. The River is being sung by community choirs across the country, including ours! In addition to The River, the album is full of uplifting and passionate music inspired by the traditions of folk, gospel, soul and jazz. Mostly written by layering her own voice on a 5-track looper, these songs are an invitation to connect and an invitation to sing. Wonderland is Coco Love Alcorn’s latest creation in a musical career that spans over 20 years, and includes 10 albums, cross-canada tours, collaborations, festival appearances, award nominations and notable success in TV and film licensing.

Location

This event will be held at the Toronto Kiwanis Boys and Girls Club in the heart of Toronto’s historic Cabbagetown, at 101 Spruce Street. This location is wheelchair accessible.

Sing for Joy Bursary Fund

The Sing for Joy Bursary Fund supports anyone in need who wishes to take part in Sing for Joy. The fund provides free membership in our community choirs, workshops, programs, and events. It also supports our volunteer work throughout Ontario, bringing the joy of group-singing to communities and organizations who would like to provide people with the Sing for Joy experience, but do not have the funds available to hire a facilitator.
